GuidesGetting started

Quickstart

From sign-up to your first proxied request in about five minutes.

#1. Create your credentials

Sign up and open Dashboard → Credentials. Your account comes with a default proxy user; copy its username and password. You'll use them for every network.

Note

Proxy credentials are not your dashboard login. Keep them in an environment variable or secret store, never in source control.

#2. Send a request

Point your HTTP client at the gateway. With no options, requests go through the residential network from a random country.

curl -x "http://USERNAME:PASSWORD@gate.riftip.com:7777" https://ip.riftip.com

ip.riftip.com echoes the exit you came through, which makes it the quickest way to check your setup:

JSON
{ "ip": "81.92.204.17", "country": "DE", "city": "Berlin", "asn": 3320, "network": "residential" }

#3. Choose a network and location

Add options to your username, separated by dashes. This request exits through a US residential IP in New York:

Shell
curl -x "http://USERNAME-net-residential-country-us-city-new_york:PASSWORD@gate.riftip.com:7777" https://ip.riftip.com

The most common options:

OptionExampleEffect
netnet-ispNetwork: residential, isp, mobile, datacenter, unlimited, ipv6
countrycountry-gbTwo-letter country code
citycity-londonCity, with spaces as underscores
sessionsession-a1b2Keep the same exit across requests
ttlttl-30mHow long a session holds

#4. Keep an identity with a session

For logins and multi-step flows, add a session ID. Requests that share it share an exit:

Shell
curl -x "http://USERNAME-session-cart42-ttl-30m:PASSWORD@gate.riftip.com:7777" https://shop.example.com/cart
